A Showcase of Czechoslovak and Contemporary Design, Architecture, and Art, the Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel will Open this Spring

Located in the heart of Prague, the five-star Fairmont Golden Prague hotel will open this spring, breathing new life into an iconic Prague building. The valuable brutalist structure was purchased by the family investment office R2G and, after a sensitive reconstruction, will be operated by the luxury hotel chain Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, whose portfolio includes iconic world-renowned hotels such as The Savoy in London and The Plaza in New York. The Fairmont Golden Prague hotel will be a showcase of Czechoslovak and contemporary design and art, while also delighting guests with the modern comfort of 320 stylish rooms, suites, and residences, enticing them with restaurants and bars offering excellent gastronomy, and providing peaceful relaxation in the Fairmont Spa & Wellness.

The exceptional hotel building in the heart of Prague was purchased by the families of successful Czech entrepreneurs Oldřich Šlemr, Pavel Baudiš, and Eduard Kučera in 2018. Their goal is to build on its rich historical legacy and reopen it to the public. After a demanding reconstruction, carried out with architect Marek Tichý, the hotel will begin a new chapter this year under the name Fairmont Golden Prague. Prague will thus join nearly ninety exclusive hotels that the luxury chain Fairmont Hotels & Resorts operates worldwide. In all these destinations, Fairmont has become a symbol of excellent services, respect for history, and deep connection with the local community.

"For more than a hundred years, Fairmont has built a reputation as a place where significant events and historical moments take place. Our mission is to continue transforming moments spent in the hotel into unforgettable and special memories for our guests. Fairmont hotels are more than just luxury accommodation – each has its own character, soul, and is connected to the local community. We are already negotiating with organizers of leading cultural events in the Czech Republic about cooperation," said Gerhard Struger, Managing Director of Fairmont Golden Prague.

The Fairmont Golden Prague building is a masterful example of brutalism, brought into the present by sensitive reconstruction. The building, which in the past housed significant personalities from the political, musical, film, and sports spheres such as Richard Nixon, Margaret Thatcher, and Tom Cruise, will once again be able to showcase the best of Czechoslovak and contemporary design and art, such as the restored iconic concrete ceiling of the Grand Ballroom by Jan Šrámek, chandeliers by René Roubíček, lighting by Hugo Demartini, and ceiling carvings by Čestmír Kafka.

There will be 320 rooms, suites, and serviced residences, each adorned with entirely new modern interiors. These spaces will be characterized by soothing colors and noble natural materials like wood, glass, and leather, all further enhanced by breathtaking views of Prague. The touch of top Czech design brands will also grace these interiors."It is important for us that the hotel retains its Czech spirit and that guests find some Czech touch in every room," adds Gerhard Struger.

It is rare to find a match in Prague for the exceptional restaurants and bars that the Fairmont Golden Prague hotel will offer, catering to every occasion and mood for both guests and residents. From a modern restaurant with Czech beer and a terrace directly accessible from Dvořák Embankment, through Asian specialties, to a space offering the finest gourmet experiences. The crowning jewel of this offering is the rooftop restaurant Zlatá Praha, where guests will savor one of Prague's finest culinary delights, all while being enchanted by a breathtaking view of the city's majestic skyline.

An escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, inspired by nature, will be provided by the extensive spa and fitness center Fairmont Spa & Wellness. Here, among its many offerings, guests will find an indoor pool that seamlessly extends to an outdoor oasis, a unique year-round one of its kind retreat in the heart of Prague.

Fairmont Golden Prague will be an attractive place for unforgettable events. The generous Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 600 guests, surrounded by the timeless elegance of the reconstructed period interior with the latest audiovisual technologies.

Fairmont Golden Prague will also unveil the exclusive Fairmont Gold experience. Among its many luxuries, guests will enjoy a private check-in upon arrival, a personal concierge to craft a flawlessly planned stay, and access to the refined Fairmont Gold Lounge, where breakfast, all-day refreshments, and a private bar await.

As part of the new chapter for the Fairmont Golden Prague hotel, the space in front of the building will be transformed into a welcoming haven for both Prague residents and visitors. An international architectural and urban planning competition will soon be announced for this transformation.
