Nová Spirála Reopens After Over Twenty Years

The legendary Spirála Theatre, now the multi-genre cultural space Nová Spirála („New Spiral“), has after more than twenty years welcomed its audiences again. A new era of the unique black circular building was launched by the multimedia show Resurrection. The one hundred and ten-minute pleiad of twenty world-known songs by Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Nirvana and other famous artists was complemented by technical elements such as video mapping; the stage and the choreography were enhanced by a 360° auditorium with a capacity of 800 seats and two rota-ting telescopic stages. The show also included acrobatics as well as reminiscences of the floods that closed the Spiral in 2002 until present days.

The venue will provide space for third-party events such as TEDx or Japanese DJ Ryoji Ikeda in the coming months. Nová Spirála at the Prague Exhibition Grounds („Výstaviště Praha“) is becoming a place where various forms and genres will find their space, whether drama, musical, new circus, opera, sports or multimedia show.

Multi-Genre Space Without Limits

 The dominant feature of the unique circular hall with a 360° auditorium and a capacity of 800 seats is a stage with a concentric turntable, which enhances the experience of each event. A small stage for smaller musical, drama and other artistic performances or corporate events with a capacity of up to 300 spectators has also been created here.

   

 Nová Spirála will offer four basic categories of its own program:

• Theatre (drama, musical, children's performances, opera, ballet, pantomime, combination of formats and alternative forms).
• Music (concerts of all genres; from classical music with large orchestras, through opera, jazz, folk, indie, soul, to rock, pop, electronic music and techno).
• Shows/special projects (talk shows, burlesque and cabaret, fashion shows, new circus, innovative light shows, video mapping, audiovisual and virtual projections).
• Events (dance, acrobatics, martial arts, lectures, conferences, trainings, fairs).

In addition to its own and co-produced program, Nová Spirála will also be open to interesting commercial projects or regular subleases.
