Prague: Where Fairytale Atmosphere Meets Business

Prague is a very compact city, but it is also very eye-catching. Its visual appeal charmed many and therefore it also won the attention of people participating in a study conducted by Remitly (a global company delivering secure international money transfers) identifying the top 10 cities most visually captivating from the air.

The research data showed that Prague holds the gaze of an air traveller for an impressive amount of 14 minutes and 8 seconds giving the best impression among 30 destinations around the world included in the study. Prague’s air appeal stems above all from the majestic monuments built on the banks of the Vltava River flowing through the city. Picturesque views of roofs of the buildings located in the Old Town add to the magic creating harmony of the unison. Prague is the best-looking city from above, but it undoubtedly deserves attention from up close too.

Prague as the heart of Europe has been scoring high in various global charts recently, one of them coming from Resonance, a global destinations advisor in tourism, real estate, and economics. Their World’s Best Cities Report ranks cities score is based on three key factors: livability, lovability and prosperity combined with the perception of those cities by 22,000 respondents in more than 30 countries. In 10th edition of World’s Best Cities, Prague scored 33rd, but 3rd in the category of Attractions, recognising the city’s efforts in maintenance of their museums and attractions and keeping them accessible to the public! The picturesque, cobbled streets of Prague contributed to its position in the ranking not only for their views but also thanks to their walkability.

The factor of walkability also helped the city to land on the seventh place in the list of the top 100 best walking cities 2024 compiled by GuruWalk, a platform connecting tourists with local guides in over 800 cities worldwide. Prague’s main benefit in walkability being the closeness of famous landmarks makes them easily connected into a one-day trip.

The same quality was recognised in the Sim Local (an international telecommunication company) chart of 12 most walkable cities in Europe, where Prague also took seventh place, highlighting the Old Town Square, Charles Bridge or the Prague Castle walks.

Three times is a charm: lucky 7 is also Prague’s rank in the Lonely Planet chart of the 27 best places to visit in Europe published in September 2024. This was the result of Prague’s combination of medieval mystery and modernity. Magnificent castle, impressive churches or modern art galleries, Prague offers almost everything!

Since Prague is considered a very compact destination, there is no surprise that all the major universities and research institutes are located either in the heart of the city or within the area surrounding the historical centre, not far from the meeting and event venues. This makes it a place convenient for meetings industry, offering many unique venues suitable for every occasion, whether it is congresses, meetings or incentives. Together with many other factors, these qualities led to Prague landing on the 6th position in the 2023 ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) global city ranking.
