The Czech investment group Cimex, owner of the largest Czech hotel network OREA Hotels & Resorts, has completed the acquisition of the four-star Andel’s Hotel Prague at the beginning of the new year. The hotel was purchased from the Austrian group Vienna Insurance Group (VIG).
The transaction was successfully completed on January 7, 2026. The hotel will operate under the new name OREA Hotel Andel’s Prague. It is located in immediate proximity to another hotel within the group’s portfolio, OREA Hotel Angelo, enabling strong synergies, particularly in the area of conference and congress tourism. While both hotels will continue to operate independently, they will do so under the shared OREA brand.
OREA Hotel Andel’s Prague offers 290 guest rooms and features 16 conference rooms with a total capacity of up to 645 delegates. OREA Hotel Angelo Prague adds another 163 rooms, 5 suites, and 4 conference rooms accommodating up to 288 guests.
“The acquisition of OREA Hotel Andel’s represents a strategic investment aimed at strengthening our hotel portfolio in the promising and rapidly developing Prague district of Smíchov. While maintaining their operational independence, both the Angelo and Andel’s hotels will benefit from the increased combined accommodation and conference capacity that we are now able to offer in this location,” says Miroslav Kosnar, CEO of the Cimex Group.
The Anděl district of Prague has undergone significant transformation in recent years and is gradually establishing itself as a modern urban quarter with growing importance for business, culture, and tourism. New office, residential, and commercial developments are emerging, positioning Anděl as one of the capital’s emerging urban centers.
“With the acquisition of OREA Hotel Andel’s Prague, Cimex gains an exceptionally strong position in this location. In addition to the Andel’s and Angelo hotels, the wider Anděl area is also home to the former Gabriel Loci Monastery, likewise owned by the Cimex Group. Today, it operates as a social and cultural venue, with plans for its transformation into a luxury hotel. Cimex is thus systematically building a comprehensive ecosystem in Anděl and its surroundings, connecting accommodation, congress tourism, culture, and urban life,” adds Miroslav Kosnar.
The acquisition of OREA Hotel Andel’s Prague aligns with the long-term development strategy of OREA Hotels & Resorts, which has been expanding dynamically in recent years both in Prague and across attractive regions of the Czech Republic. The objective is to provide guests with a consistently high standard across the entire network while flexibly responding to the growing demand for conference and experiential hospitality.
“At OREA, we create places people enjoy returning to. Together, OREA Hotel Andel’s and OREA Hotel Angelo will offer nearly 450 rooms in one location, along with significantly expanded conference facilities. For our guests, this means greater comfort, broader choice, and the assurance of the high-quality service they expect from OREA—whether they are visiting for business or to experience Prague,” adds Gorjan Lazarov, CEO of OREA Hotels & Resorts.
The value of the transaction will not be disclosed by mutual agreement of the parties.
