Interview with Resident Manager Jana Buršová

Ms Buršová, Grandium Hotel is a large conference hotel located in the very centre of Prague. What do you consider its greatest strength?
The greatest strength of Grandium is the combination of several elements that rarely come together in one hotel. We have an excellent central location in Prague, strong conference facilities and at the same time we can offer guests an individual approach.

You have more than 14 years of experience with Marriott and over 10 years with Le Hotels. What do you bring from this background to Grandium?
Above all, a strong emphasis on systems, quality and working with people. Marriott taught me that without systematic management, no hotel can function properly and Le Hotels gave me the space to apply this experience with greater flexibility and a more human approach. At Grandium, we aim to connect the best of both worlds – professional standards combined with a personal and authentic attitude.

It is often said that a hotel is made by its people. What kind of team stands behind the operation of Grandium Hotel?
Being able to build my own team and to be surrounded by colleagues and managers who are experts in their respective fields is something I consider a great privilege. For me it is essential to work with people I can rely on not only professionally but above all on a human level.

The F&B department is led by Maroš Koval who with his positive energy and strong attention to detail sets the right direction for gastronomy and the conference business. Slobodan Časič as Head of Engineering ensures that the hotel runs flawlessly behind the scenes. Housekeeping is firmly managed by Jana Žigová, while Václav Havlíček at the front office creates the first and last impression guests take away. Colleagues outside daily operations play an equally important role. Together, we form a well-coordinated team where everyone knows they are working towards a shared goal.

How do you maintain a human atmosphere in a hotel with such a large conference capacity?
It is about communication and respect. Whether we have one guest in the hotel or a thousand conference participants, the approach must always be the same. Guests very quickly sense whether the staff work well together and whether they enjoy their work. We try to ensure that every team member understands that their role has a direct impact on the guest experience – whether it is visible or not.

What do guests mention most often in their feedback?
Very often, guests praise our staff. They also mention excellent breakfasts, the cleanliness of the rooms and our central city location. For me, however, the most valuable feedback is when someone writes that they would like to return. That means we have delivered more than just what was expected.

Conference clients have high expectations. What makes Grandium strong in the MICE segment?
We offer flexible conference spaces, solid technical facilities and above all an experienced team that knows how to react quickly and calmly. Conferences are about details and about the ability to resolve situations before they become problems. Thanks to the experience of our team, we can offer clients not only space but also confidence that their event will run smoothly.

What would you like guests to take away from their stay at Grandium Hotel?
A feeling that behind every service there was a specific person who genuinely cared about their satisfaction. If guests leave with a positive impression not only of the hotel but also of the people working there, then we know we are doing our job well.
