Hotel Olšanka has installed a 250 kW photovoltaic power plant on its rooftop, covering nearly 20% of its annual electricity consumption and reducing CO₂ emissions by 140 tons per year.

Hotel Olšanka has taken a significant step toward sustainability and energy self-sufficiency with the installation of a new rooftop photovoltaic power plant. Covering an area of 2,800 m², the system features more than 500 solar panels with a total capacity of 250 kW, generating approximately 267 MWh of clean electricity annually. This output equals the annual consumption of about 80 average Czech households. All the energy produced is used directly within hotel operations, helping to reduce both operational costs and the property’s environmental footprint.

The photovoltaic panels supply around one-fifth of the hotel’s total annual electricity needs. “In recent years, our hotel has undergone extensive modernization, including interior renovations and upgrades to its technical facilities. Our own photovoltaic source represents another step in improving our services and increasing the sustainability of our operations — a priority that is especially important for our conference clientele. In addition, having our own source of electricity saves millions of CZK in our budget,” says Ondřej Matiášek, General Manager of Hotel Olšanka.

Hotel Olšanka is among several notable Prague buildings where ČEZ ESCO has implemented renewable energy projects, including the Prague Congress Centre and the National Theatre.

Thanks to these savings, Hotel Olšanka can continue investing in enhancing its facilities for guests. The hotel offers more than 250 comfortable rooms, a modern conference center, wellness services, and sports facilities. The combination of comfort, modern technology, and an environmentally responsible approach makes it an ideal choice for both tourists and corporate clients seeking quality accommodation in the heart of Prague.
