The Council of the Capital City of Prague ruled opening of a new Subsidy Programme to Support Innovation Events for 2027 at its meeting in early June 2026. The city will allocate more than CZK 5.3 million to support conferences, educational events, trade fairs and forums focused on innovation.

“Prague has been systematically supporting events in the field of innovation for three years in a row, and the interest their organizers have shown confirms that this program is meaningful. We want to continue developing Prague as a city supporting innovation, connecting startups, researchers, companies and students, and helping events that attract new technologies, ideas and talents to Prague,” says Daniel Mazur, councillor of the capital city of Prague for ICT, Smart City, science, research and innovation.

The 2027 programme will be executed in two measures: support of popularisation and education events and support of trade fairs, exhibitions and forums focused on innovation. The total amount of funds allocated for the programme is exactly CZK 5,304,500. CZK 3 million is intended for popularization and education events, and more than CZK 2.3 million for trade fairs, exhibitions and professional forums. The maximum amount of support per project will be one million crowns, covering up to 70% of eligible costs.

Supported projects must comply with the Regional Innovation Strategy of the City of Prague (RIS3) and thus specialise in at least one of the 4 supported areas: biotechnology; space and aviation; artificial intelligence, software, blockchain or audiovisual and design. At the same time, it must focus on one (or more) of the 4 set goals: supporting competitiveness; cultivating the environment; efficient and economical resources management or internationalization.

Other conditions of support are a minimum one-year history of the event and the participation of at least 150 registered visitors. Applicants such as associations, foundations, institutes, business corporations or professional organizations will be eligible for support of in-person and hybrid events held in Prague in 2027. Recipients will be able to utilize the subsidies to cover the costs of rental for premises where the events will physically take place, audiovisual equipment rental, decorations, marketing services for the event or remuneration for speakers, moderators, interpreters and services related to the production of the event.

Applications can be submitted from 24th August to 7th September 2026 via the granty.praha.eu portal. The Council of the Capital City of Prague will vote on the allocation of subsidies by the end of January 2027 at the latest.

The Innovation Action Support Programme was launched by the City in 2024 with the aim of providing support to innovation events in a systematic and predictable manner. This year, the city has supported, for example, the Maker Faire Prague, Prague.bio Conference, the Festival of Creative Bureaucracy and Innovations United.
