This autumn, the Signal Space digital art gallery is expanding its accompanying program and, in addition to its exhibitions, it also begins addressing the topics related to the very essence of digital art. It will thus provide opportunities for its visitors and for potential clients interested in holding their events in the gallery to experience the wide range of possibilities that Signal Space and its technologies offer.

The new program diversifies the forms that Signal Space, located in the 130-year-old Old Town Market building, applies when working with digital art. In addition to presenting completed art installations, it also wants, in series of events, to show visitors the technologies, decisions, experiments and technical problems that precede their creation. In September, it will therefore introduce two new formats: Signal Talks discussions and the practical Signal Lab.

The first of the Signal Talks will feature visual artist and light designer Lukáš Dřevjaný, who in his work combines live audiovisual performances, theatre and his own installations. On Thursday, 10th September, in the evening, he will present the topic of “creating an immersive audiovisual show”. The format combines an approximately half-hour presentation with a subsequent discussion and is designed for fifty visitors in the area of the gallery café.

The first event within the Signal Lab concept, focused on the participants’ own work, will be Plug & Play – a workshop on programming of lights with Spectoda, which will take place on 30th September from 7 pm to 9 pm. The workshop for twenty participants will be led by Matěj Suchánek, co-founder and CTO of Spectoda, which rose from the environment of interactive light installations.

“Signal Space is a place that lives for art. We want visitors to take away not only an experience from the gallery, but also the opportunity to get to know the people behind individual projects and technologies. That is why the new platforms – Signal Talks and Signal Lab – have been created, and will offer regular meetings and discussions with creators and people from the technological environment, space for experiments, sharing experiences and working on new ideas,” says Petr Suchánek, the gallery’s Chief Operating Officer.

Signal Space will address the professional public by presenting its possibilities for private or corporate events at its Venue Experience Day on the evening of 27th August, during which those interested will be able to see the gallery as a space for conferences, gala dinners, corporate events, art and sports projects. The evening will include a guided tour of installations and networking.

The expansion of the program comes in a year when Signal Space won several international awards for its main exhibition Echoes of Tomorrow. The exhibition presents works of Czech and international authors and builds on the physical experience of light, sound and space. Until mid-September, the gallery’s foyer will also offer the last opportunity to see the kinetic installation Reflection from the PrůšaLab workshop, consisting of 91 separately controlled moving mirrors.

“Signal Space is a unique space that, thanks to its technological equipment, offers the opportunity to organize a spectacular event. Therefore, we would like to show this space to those interested together with the exhibition, which offers a great accompanying program for the event,” explained Klára Černá, Business Partnerships Manager.
