From 7 to 10 September 2026, Prague will become the hub of European engineering education. The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) will host the 54th Annual SEFI Conference (European Society for Engineering Education). Centred around the theme ‘Engineering Education for Humanity’, the event is expected to attract around 600 experts from across Europe and beyond to discuss the critical role of engineers in addressing societal challenges and shaping the future of education and technology.

The theme of the upcoming SEFI conference highlights the intersection of technical progress with the needs and values of human society. In an era of rapid technological development, the rise of artificial intelligence, and global societal changes, it is essential for engineering disciplines to reflect ethical, environmental, and humanistic dimensions. Under the organisation and full production management by GUARANT International, the conference will provide an international platform for sharing the latest insights, academic research, and best teaching practices.

The keynote programme will feature leading international figures who will bring their perspectives on the symbiosis of technology, education, and human values to Prague. In his talk ‘Co-Intelligence for Humanity: Learning with AI, Not from It’, Sasha Nikolic will present a vision of education as a partnership between human intellect and artificial intelligence, in which AI serves not merely as a source of information but as a tool for mutual growth and effective collaboration.

Building on the human dimension and social responsibility, Gillian Saunders-Smits will deliver a keynote titled ‘Engineering Education not for, but by, through, and with Humanity – Practice as we Preach’. She will emphasise that modern engineering education should not be a mere service to society, but must be forged through direct dialogue with it, grounded in real-world practice, and reflect in everyday life the very values we teach.
